Island on Vermilion Lake

Vermilion Lake, Minnesota

MN-09-154-LK
One of the benefits of using a digital camera over a 4x5 is the ability to shoot without a tripod. This image would have been impossible to take with a 4x5. As it was, it was nearly impossible with the digital. Each time I maneuvered the boat into a desirable position I then had to grab my camera, steady myself as much as possible and wait for residual boat movement to subside before I tripped the shutter. To further complicate matters, the sun was racing for the horizon and was moving in and out of cloud cover. I must have attempted this shot a dozen times before I came up with one I was happy with.
